Each year Forbes releases their list of the world’s most powerful women. From a group of over 250 candidates from around the world, Forbes carefully selects 100 of the most influential women, using three metrics: money, media presence and impact. Using factors like company revenue, income, net worth; dollars spent fulfilling an organization’s mission along with news hits, TV and radio appearances, fans/followers over social media; and lastly extent of their reach across industries, cultures and countries, and the number of people they influence and affect, Forbes released their list of the world’s most powerful women earlier this year.
Interestingly enough, no women from Canada made the Forbes’ list, and only three women from India graced it. Coming in at #9 is Sonia Gandhi, India’s President; #65 is Chanda Kochhar, CEO of ICICI Bank; and #85 Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw, Founder and Chair of Biocon Ltd.
