2 3 4 5 6 7 8A young South Asian man who was vacuuming his black Mercedes Benz at a service station in the busy Surrey-Delta Punjabi Market on Scott Road and 92A Avenue was shot in broad daylight on Monday.

Eyewitnesses told The VOICE that a man wearing a hoodie walked up to the victim and fired several shots and then ran back to a blue car with two or three occupants.

One person said that she ran out of a shop to note down the licence plate number of the vehicle as she was sure that shots had been fired. But the car took off before she could read the number.

The brazen shooting that quite obviously was targeted took place around 11:15 a.m. Police cordoned off a stretch of the busy Scott Road and redirected the traffic.

The injured man, who was conscious, was treated on the scene before being carried to an ambulance.

Delta Police (as the shooting happened on the Delta side of Scott Road) later said that the 25-year-old male sustained non- life threatening injuries to his lower body.

Police said: “Initial information indicated that a suspect vehicle, described only as a dark smaller import, was seen fleeing northbound on 120thStreet from the scene.

“Although the victim is uncooperative with police, investigators will be thorough in their efforts to determine the circumstances that lead to this targeted shooting and identify those responsible.”

Anyone with information that can assist in this investigation is asked to call the Delta Police at 604-946-4411 or Crime Stoppers 1-800-222- TIPS (8477).
