ORAL CANCER SCREENING 2018

Pacific Oral Health Society in collaboration with the Rotary Club of Surrey-Newton and British Columbia Oral Cancer Prevention Program offered a free Oral Cancer Screening Clinic on Sunday September 23, 2018.

The clinic was held at Pacific Oral Health Centre located at #300-15850 24th Ave Surrey from 9am – 4pm. This free clinic was open to everyone.

The goal of the clinic is to help reduce the barriers to oral cancer and support the prevention and early detection of oral cancer. This event was a great success as 325 patients were screened by our amazing dental team and volunteers.

The data collected by the Pacific Oral Health Society indicated that 9 people were found to be at high risk of having oral cancer and are being reassessed in 3 weeks time.

There were 12 cases that were direct referrals to the cancer clinic that showed positive signs for oral cancer. The Pacific Oral Health Society team along with there generous commitment have volunteered over $50,000 of their time and services for this clinic to be offered free of charge to the community.

Pacific Oral Health Society is grateful to all the volunteers for their time and dedication they put into helping with the great success we had with this clinic.
