Baba Hardev Singh, spiritual head of Sant Nirankari Mission, died in a road accident in Montreal in Canada.
Kripasagar, press and publicity in-charge of the mission, said the mission was deeply saddened by the news of Baba Hardev Singh’s death. He was 62.
“With profound pain and sorrow, this is to inform all that His Holiness Nirankari Baba Hardev Singh Ji Maharaj has merged into this Almighty God. He was travelling in a car in Canada which met with a serious accident at about 5.00 am (IST) on Friday,” a statement issued by Sant Nirankari Mandal said.
Baba Hardev Singh, born on February 23, 1954 in Delhi, became the spiritual mentor of Sant Nirankari Mission after its spiritual leader Baba Gurbachan Singh was assassinated on April 24, 1980.
Condoling the death of the Nirankari chief, Prime Minister Narenda Modi said Baba Hardev Singh’s demise was “a great loss to the spiritual world. My thoughts are with his countless followers in this sad time.”
