Manali Vengsarkar: Jewellery Designer to Indian Celebrities

Manali Vengsarkar is making waves in the Mumbai fashion scene. After winning several international jewellery competitions, Vengsarkar took additional courses to learn about the technical end of jewellery manufacturing. Armed with newfound technical know-how, the ex-cricketer’s celebrity wife continues to dazzle Indian celebrities with her exquisite pieces.

Vengsarkar has a background in fashion design from Mumbai and Milan, and worked as an exporter of fine leather accessories to countries like Germany, Australia, and Italy. “I started my own business and set up a factory at the age of 18, but shortly after I got married and had my son, I decided to shut down my factory. Being a creative person I needed another outlet and began designing jewellery,” says Vengsarkar, the Mumbai native.

Manali - 4After taking a course in jewellery design to further hone her design skills, Vengsarkar started designing her own jewellery, and while travelling around the world with husband Dilip Vengsarkar, began designing jewellery for her friends and a select international clientele. Her line, Manali Creations, is contemporary and classic, and each unique piece is timeless and elegant, as is her own personal style.

The jewellery designer uses semi-precious and precious stones to create classic pieces in a scale larger than average. She uses unique antique colored stones and coins, and transforms them into her trademark bespoke contemporary pieces.

Vengsarkar dreams of one day designing for the red carpet. “My jewellery has ended up on the red carpet through stylists who have picked up pieces for celebrities, but maybe one day soon my brand will be represented on the red carpet as a standalone brand,” she says.

Although fashion is her first passion, Vengsarkar feels it is important to give back to the community and is involved with social programs in Mumbai. Lending her celebrity status to social work like seniors issues and universal education programs for street children, has allowed the issues to get international exposure.
