Local Surrey boy becomes inspiration for millions across the world

Jagpreet Bajwa, a 21 year old visually impaired boy from Surrey has became one of the top 5 finalists of popular Indian music show Sa Re Ga Ma Pa. In the finals, held in Goa on Sunday, he ended up at third place. In the final round he sung song from Ashique 2 “Sun raha hai na tu.”

The top 5 finalists–Kushal Paul, Sachin Kumar, Jagpreet Bajwa, Rupali Jagga and Jyotica Tangri–showcased their singing skills at a massive star-studded finale that had performances from Kailash Kher, Armaan Malik, Sukhwinder Singh, and Benny Dayal, who performed with the Top 5 finalists in Goa. The 5 contestants got a medal, and the winner, Kushal, walked away with the coveted trophy and a brand new Elite i20 – Hyundai.

Jagpreet has captured millions of hearts during his journey from the auditions to the finals. He is trained in both Indian Classical and western style of music. He is a passionate and motivational speaker who lost his vision when he was 6 months old to eye cancer. However he never let his impaired vision pose a hindrance to his success. At the age of 6, Jagpreet was performing on stage and has performed in over 500 shows. He can sing in 11 different languages ncluding English, Hindi, Punjabi, Urdu, Italian, German, French, Spanish and Sanskrit.

His golden voice has not only impressed judges and viewers, it has also blown away Bollywood celebrities like Shah Rukh Khan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and most recently,Salman Khan. Salman even expressed his desire to work with him. “Inshallah hum kabhi saath mein kaam karenge,” is what the star apparently said while visiting the sets of the music reality show, that too just to meet him.
